Ohhh little Ella was such a long awaited and delightful little bundle to photograph. And that’s just for me! I’m sure she was even more anticipated and delightful to her gorgeous parents ;) Ella was a little over 2 weeks old when she finally made it to me for her newborn portrait session, and a little bundle of smooshableness (I resisted smooshing her gorgeous cheeks – but just barely). W & J, she is SOOO very beautiful, and I am so so so thrilled for you both.

That title should probably read “Tamworth child photographer” except well, right now we’re back in Sydney so it didn’t seem to fit. Plus, we’re still going to be living and working in Sydney for another year :) Anyhow… while I was in Tamworth a couple of weeks back, I snuck in a photoshoot of the very pretty miss “M”. Doesn’t she have THE best hair ever?! I am totally envious of her incredible curls (and love love love photographing them…er…I mean her…whenever I get a chance).

My youngest daughter, at 6 months old. Already she is crawling around the place like a maniac, and she’s starting to sit up by herself too. Call me crazy, but these past 6 months have zoomed by so quickly that it’s hard to believe. Also, how darn cute is Zoe’s nappy? It’s one of Itti Bitti’s new limited edition minkee prints. You know how much I love Itti Bitti, and that isn’t just because I do their photography. I’ve been using itti’s for several years now and they are STILL hands down my favourite of all cloth nappies.

Yes, that does read TAMWORTH! :) No…we haven’t left Sydney. Just visiting for now. However, I feel that it is now time to announce that at the beginning of 2011 I AM relocating to the beautiful city of Tamworth. I will still be travelling to Sydney OFTEN however. Just a little heads-up.

Anyway! Gorgeous just doesn’t cut it when it comes to “T”. I have to call her SUPER Gorgeous. Because that is what she is :)

One-on-one mentoring part 2

December 23, 2009 | Category: kids | 5 Comments

On the second day of mentoring, I showed Bek how to find and “see” light (as well as a few other things). The different kinds of light I like to work with, different ways to use it. We were blessed with both bright afternoon sun AND super overcast skies as the weather quickly changed, so I was able to show her a variety of ways I use and see light! It is so interesting to me to literally watch the “aha” moment happen, when I show someone how it is done (well, how I do it anyway!).

A couple of my shots – Same spot, different light.

Maddy’s gorgeous dress is from Charlipop Kids!

Also, can anyone BELIEVE it is the night before Christmas Eve??! Oh my goodness… I have not even started wrapping presents… not looking forward to that job. I suspect I’ll be up until 3 in the morning Christmas Day.

I mentored a girl in my very first one-on-one mentoring session today! It was so much fun. Two of my daughters were my little models, helping show how to “do” things and letting my “protegee” (Haha!) experiment with how different lighting and composition and settings work to produce a photograph. We are doing two more sessions together, and it is my hope that by the end of it she will have been stuffed FULL of fantastic knowledge that she can put to use straight away :)

Another reason why this particular mentoring for me is so fun, the girl I am mentoring is one of my many cousins! We are the same age and although we were GREAT friends as kids, we haven’t seen eachother in probably 5 years or more (she lives in New Zealand!). So when Bek contacted me several weeks ago to see if I’d be able to give her some photography lessons, I was allover it :)

This family shoot was such a lovely way to wrap up before Christmas. The weather was nice, the light was pretty, and the children were gorgeous. Big brother and big sister were so sweet with the newest addition to the family, and it was all in all such a nice afternoon to finish off with :)
